A HUGE thank you to Bendigo Community Bank Mundaring for their grant to install a solar storage battery for the sanctuary!!

In April of 2025 we received community grant funds to install a solar storage battery system that has allowed the rescue to become more self-reliant and resilient in terms of electrical energy.  In turn, this provides safety and comfort for our lovely dogs and  sanctuary volunteers to weather the not infrequent power outages in the Perth Hills.  It is difficult to express how much this has meant to us at Best Friends Animal Rescue!

Perth Solar Force has installed a 20 KWH battery & inverter that is sufficient to power the sanctuary’s fridges, freezers, fans, lights and water pump for up to 8 hours.  This is a real investment in self-reliance and safety for the rescue due to the frequency of power cuts from storms and fires in the Perth Hills.  The 8.2 KW solar panel system funded by Energy Efficient Communities Program in 2020 provides the electricity to charge the battery.
